Headteachers Welcome

Welcome to the Norman Gate School website. I hope you will find it interesting and valuable.

Norman Gate School is a primary school for children aged two and nine months – 11 with a moderate range of additional learning needs (MLD). We have approximately 98 children on roll in 9 classes, on average ten children per class, one teacher and usually two or three learning support assistants. This includes 18 part-time children in the nursery.

We believe that children develop best in a positive environment where they are nurtured and supported to create and where their self-esteem can grow. Therefore, we enable the children to access a wide variety of learning experiences presented in various ways to meet the range of neurodiverse learning needs across our pupils. Children are encouraged to ‘have a go’ knowing that they are well supported and safe to do so.

Norman Gate is accredited as a Rights Respecting school, and the work of the school puts children’s rights at the centre of all that we do. Showing respect for one another is at the core of school life.

As the school is based on positive principles, we have many reward systems such as stickers, certificates and whole class trips.

We believe that children make the most progress when home and school work together, and we look forward to a close working relationship with all our parents.

Norman Gate is very much part of the community. We are part of a campus of four schools, and we work closely with Vigo Primary, Winton Community Academy and Mark Way Secondary.

Andover is a forward-thinking town, and we are proud to be part of the Andover Area Partnership for Learning which works for the benefit of the whole community.

There is more information about the school on the website, but if there is anything you cannot find, please do not hesitate to get in touch with us at adminoffice@normangate.hants.sch.uk

Visitors to the school are most welcome. Please get in touch with reception to book your visit.
