Our Nursery
Our Nursery
The nursery takes children usually in year R-1 but occasionally in year R-2. The nursery is well staffed with a teacher and support assistants. Hampshire County Council determines placements, and children are usually offered 5 three hour sessions per week, morning or afternoon.
Children are placed in the nursery by the Local Authority following referral to AAPAG (Andover Area Placement Advisory Group).
The children have a fun time in a safe, stimulating, well-equipped environment where staff can assess their needs and help them to develop language, play and interaction skills. We work alongside other professionals such as speech therapists, occupational therapists, doctors and psychologists as appropriate.
The nursery is part of the school, although not all the children who attend the nursery will follow through with school. Some children will move into their local primary school, and some will come into Norman Gate or other special provisions. The children (and families!) are well supported during the transition process.
School and home must work together, and each child has a key worker to facilitate this partnership. If you would like more information, please get in touch with the Headteacher.
We look forward to seeing you.
