Autism, Asperger’s, ADHD, attachment issues, developmental delay, emotional conditions or learning disabilities.
How can Music Therapy Help?
Children LOVE music… it’s something that makes sense to them and is particularly helpful if they are finding communication difficult.
Music therapy is a unique experience for the child: exploring, sharing, listening and learning to play with others – these are all essential to healthy productive early life.
For children with mental health and/or developmental needs, music therapy provides child-centred, individualised programmes to create positive change.
Music Therapy with very young children is evaluated using the Music Therapy Star, involving parents. This is an Outcomes Star. In an early year’s transition project with Hampshire Music Service, 90% of the children made significant progress in each of the 5 areas assessed: Relating, Use of Voice, Attention and Awareness, Play and Creativity, Emotional Well-Being.
Established in 2010, Winchester-based Key Changes Music Therapy, registered charity no. 1124102, provides a professional music therapy service, both outreach at schools and centres and in-house. Key Changes therapists are registered on the DBS update service and through the Health Care Professions Council.
Key Changes is a partner with Hampshire Music Service hub.
